I'm on 500mg/day and Depakote is definitely NOT sedating for me. I take it in the morning and evening, but not right before bed. It doesn't seem to affect my sleep - positively or negatively. But I've heard it commonly does. It definitely acts as an AD for me; it really helps with my lows.
