i think it's average also. i was on 300 last year and it worked great.
i took myself off it, lost more weight and they just put me back on it at 150 and seem to be ok, i think 300 may be too much for me right now but i think 150 is too small. wish i could go inbetween.

However, it might not have been wise of your doctor to start you out at 300, if that's what he did. He could have started you at 150 or even 100 and push the dose up gradually over one to two weeks, even longer if it takes you time to adjust to it.
