Hi Bunny!
We're both up late tonight!
>I gather my blackouts where caused by hypotension from my pericyazine and having looked up the symptoms.
You're probably right, pericyazine is very hypotensive- postural (orthostatic) hypotension is one of the most common side effects. You should still get checked out by your GP though- s/he will need to test for other causes of blackouts.
>So any suggestions anyone?
Always stand up SLOWLY! Hang onto something.
If possible, reduce the pericyazine dose.
Ask your GP for some elastic stockings. Mmm, nice!
Maintain a high fluid intake and eat plenty of salt! Don't increase your salt intake until your GPs diagnosed postural hypotension though. If you don't like salty food, ask for a prescription for 'Slow Sodium' tablets.
If you're desperate, get a prescription for a low dose of fludrocortisone (Florinef).
Regards,
Ed.
