I am Bipolar Type II and when I was on Lamictal (as monotherapy) I did get a fairly good anti-depressant effect on it, but I also felt I was becoming a little bit "activated" (agitated) on it... right about the time I developed a rash and had to get off it anyway. You might need to try a different mood stabilizer, like lithium, Depakote, or my favorite, Trileptal, and then add an AD. Unfortunately, these MSs aren't so good treating depression alone, but they shouldn't make you manic/agitated either!
