Just a note if its not working for you.. Valium is the weakest benzo out of all of them basically. Many people think its rather strong, but it isnt, it just has a long half life. Xanax, Klonopin are the strongest that are available typically (there are stronger ones, but they arent prescribed any much, especially in the US)

So if your going from Xanax to Valium, you are significally downgrading the benzo power. Xanax .5 is probably equivalent to like 20-30mg Valium, and even then, Xanax is a trialobenzodizepine(SP) which only few benzos have this property, none of which are prescribed very much except Xanax.

And if Xanax stopped working for you - you were probably becomign tolerant to its effects. This will happen with all benzos over time usually.

I have to take 10mg of klonopin to even feel the least bit of anxiety relief, for example. That is a major dose usually for seizures.. so i stopped taking benzos altogether.. That is equivalent to 100's of MGs of Valium for example..
