No sleep

Posted by alienatari on January 26, 2005, at 5:58:16

Hey all. As you know im on Parnate, and anyway apart from my 5-7pm
lay-down where i dont actually sleep, and my "i feel like i want to
vomit" feeling from about 4-6pm (now cured with a low dose of
Ativan) I am finding it soooooo hard to sleep. In the past I have
used Xanax to sleep. Im taking about 1.5mgs of Xanax and I still
cant sleep. Im getting to sleep at around 3:30am and University
starts soon so im getting worried. I want to get this sorted out
before then. I also take my Parnate pretty early. One dose when I
wake up at around 10am the next dose at 2pm.

What I use to use with great success was Seroquel. I was on it as an
antipsychotic/moodstabaliser with my Epilim (Depakote) as I have
Bipolar I disorder, and at 800mgs of Sereoquel I would have a great
sleep but would feel pretty yuk in the morning. Seroquel started to
make my throat close up so i had to stop taking it.

Now im looking for something new that i can suggest to my
psychatrist for sleep. I am out of answers. The only things I can
think of are Stilnox (Ambien), which use to work on me at one point but I
dont know if that is compatible with Parnate, and Melatonin and
again, ive never taken that and I dont know if its compatible with
Parnate.

Anyone have any suggestions on what they take to help them get to
sleep? My friend who is bipolar takes 5mgs of Thorazine to sleep and
finds that works great (hey i might get my thorazine afterall lol)
but I doubt my doc will perscribe this.

Thanks and take care
Chris.
