Anyone survive Effexor and doing well?

Posted by Petra on January 21, 2005, at 22:34:45

Hey people. I'm curious as to how many fellow Effexor users are doing somewhat O.K. after stopping this drug. Personally, I've been on Paxil(12.5 mg) and Risperdal(1.5 mg) for about a month now. I am doing better than I have been in awhile. Not that I don't still have problems. Things are just easier to deal with for me lately. I've tried Prozac(made me want to drink), Lexapro(felt terrible, unmotivated), and Wellbutrin(did nothing). I was on 225 of Effexor. In retrospect, I noticed that the higher the dose of any drug I took, the worse I became. I became a "Fake" O.K. Now I believe that Effexor should only be taken in severe cases. I agree with Bebe on this. All I know is that I, for years, have been asking to up the dose of my medication thinking that that was what I needed. But I'm finally realizing that less is better. Less takes the edge off without all the terrible side effects. Still not easy, but will it ever be? Is there gonna be a drug that makes us all well? That magic pill? I'm afraid that I have realized the answer is no. We need to use these drugs at low doses to help us deal with our issues in therapy. Just my revelation. I wish you all the best and I pray for you all. Peace, Petra
