Parnate and exhaustion - chemist, if you will

Posted by Maxime on January 18, 2005, at 23:01:27

I have asked this question before a long time ago but I did not understand the answer. If anyone can answer this question and you use the names of neurotransmitters etc. please explain what they are. I am a doctor of Philosophy. So while I can talk forever about hegemony, my knowledge of chemistry is slowly growing.

Why would Parnate make me so exhausted? I use the would exhausted because it's not the same feeling as being tired or sedated like when I take a benedryl for example. It's a I have to lie down now and rest for 20 minutes or I will fall over. So I take Adderall to counteract it and it does help. It also helps my depression. Despite being on a high dosage of Parnate (80-100mg depending on the lunar cycle because I am bipolar), I am always depressed but nothing like when I am not taking Parnate. I can feel the Parnate make my heart race at times and sometimes I get a headache.

What would cause this effect. How can a med be stimulating in some ways yet cause exhaustion at the same time?

Thank you.

Maxime
