Stimulant Tolerance - this is frustrating!

I want to know, if the body permently adapts to a psychostimulant over time, lately I have had to increase my adderall to 60mg in one dose, and now its starting to feel like 30mg.
Is this permenent, or does a "break" like a weeek make things go back to normal.
This frustrates me, that when 60mg was effective, it loses it, my nuerotransmitters need to get it together.
