I believe you would find Risperdal to have a much lower tendency to cause weight gain, as it only has a weak histamine H1 blockade compared to the extremely powerful one of Zyprexa, and Risperdal does not blockade serotonin-2c receptors much at all (this particular blockade can sometimes increase appetite). Risperdal does have a tendency to increase prolactin levels, and it also has a higher indicidence of EPSEs than does Zyprexa, but I think it is still a relatively good drug and far superior to the old style/traditional antipsychotics in terms of overall side effects.
