No, the 10mg short-acting are not the same as the extended release. The XR are designed to release slowly throughout the day as opposed to acting all at once, as the regular short-acting does. If you need to take it and don't have any XR perhaps you can do 30mg in the morning and 30mg in the afternoon? Just a suggestion.
