In reply to desipramine/strattera link?, posted by CraigD on December 3, 2004, at 13:59:58

Hi,

I have some experience with all 3 drugs you mention. Serzone was AWFUL (but I was not aware of any NE uptake), Desipramine stopped my panic attacks but did nothing for my depression. I took it for years in my 20s. Tried again later and it made me feel terrible too.

Strattera, on the other hand, worked for me for depression. I stopped taking it bc it MAY have been causing some weird side effects (but I'm still not sure it was the med). Other than those possible side effects, it had few side effects all (i.e no overstimulation, no sleepiness, only a bit of the sexual side effects but not as bad as SSRIs)

For me, anything with seratonin makes me feel either no better, or much worse.

If you have atypical depression, Strattera may work for you. Of course, as always, everyone is different.

Good luck!

> I was about to try strattera for possible ADD (also a flakiness exaccerbated by lamictal) by I expect it to have a similar effect to desipramine, another strong NE med.
