> I'm have major depression and only become hypomanic on meds.. on those meds is lamotrigine, which causes me to become hypomanic for 3/4 days and then return to depression (with nasty ruminating thoughts).. I was wondering whether riluzole would be different?? anyone tried both?

I just completed a two-week trial of riluzole to treat bipolar depression. I was bitterly disappointed when I found that it made my depression worse. I find Lamictal somewhat beneficial for my depression.

If you are really considering riluzole, be aware that a month at 100mg will cost you $1000.

What attracted you to riluzole? If you are looking at antiglutamatergic / NMDA antagonism, memantine might be worth a look at.
