In Jay Goldstein, MD's book "Betrayal by the Brain" (p. 127) he claims that 1 gm of inositol a day can reverse such tolerance to medications and render them effective again for some people. He doesn't go into much detail (he has another book out after this one that I hope will give more details on this) but he does talk about a client of his who had excellent responses to ADs but they would poop-out quickly. The inositol did help in her case to maintain the good AD effect.
I have no idea if this is something that will work for many other people or if this can even be taken with Parnate. I just thought I'd put this out there for further discussion or research.
Also, from what I've read on this board, it seems that Parnate is one of the medications that people are able to get back on in the future (after poop-out and time off from it) and find efficacy again. Is there anything (Nardil, Marplan, selegiline) that you could take in the meantime? If Parnate helped so much, you might find that the selegiline patch would help you too. Last I heard that might be available in early 2005.
