I've always needed an absolute minimum of 10mg to reduce anxiety. I wouldn't even be able to tell that I'd taken anything if I took 2-6mg.
Maybe you feel anxious after you take it because that's how you expect to feel due to previous bad experiences with the drug. You could ask for another benzo instead, it doesn't need to be clonazepam or alprazolam- there are plenty of others.
