I don't know if it has something to do with a person's nationality or not. My background is European, and I was on 150mg for 3 years. I nearly died but felt no effects whatsoever until the third day of not taking the drug.

Because there are so many people that have such serious problems with Effexor/(XR) and because there are other alternatives to this drug for the people that truly need to take this sort of drug, I don't think that it is worth the risk.

If I knew how dangerous it was before I had taken it, there is no way that it would have crossed my lips, and I believe that every person that takes this drug has the right to know that it has the potential to kill them when they stop taking it, whether they stop slowly or they quit cold turkey and that it can also do serious harm to their health during the time that they are taking it. There are now documented incidences of liver damage, weight gain of between 10 and 35 pounds, elevated blood pressure problems, elevated cholesteral, adrenal problems. I don't know for sure about any others. (In a little over one month my weight dropped 10 pounds. I was completely confused as to why no matter what I ate or didn't eat, I couldn't lose any weight at all, and now it just keeps on dropping.)

After my withdrawal experience with EffexorXR, since I have come to understanding that I am not the only one that has had this experience, I will work to see that this drug is taken off the market mostly because I am not weak. I am strong, and I take very good care of my health. I don't drink alcohol or take drugs. I exercise and eat healthy foods. If I were allergic to it, I could understand that I was the exception rather than the rule, but if more people have trouble when they stop taking the drug or even when they are on it than are safe taking it and if doctors do not even have this information available to them, something needs to change before more and more people are harmed.

This was such a horrid experience that I don't think that I will let anything stop me from getting to the top of the food chain and solving at least a portion of this problem. Now that I'm finally feeling better, I will use whatever access I have to get the job done properly.
