Another week has passed, and I have good and bad news. Or maybe just no real news. Right now, when I try to take less than 5mg of Lexapro, my depression and anxiety start to kick in. I don't know if that means I'm tappering too fast, or if I'm losing some synergistic effect of Cymbalta and Lexapro together. There is a definite and extremely real anti-anxiety effect of Cymbalta for me, but it really sucks that I'm having such a tough time getting completely off of the Lexapro. My doctor decided to keep me at 5mg Lex until my next appointment. I suppose he figures if I give the Cymbalta longer to take hold, then discontinuing Lexapro will be easier. I sure hope so. But then again, I'm not opposed to combining Cymbalta and Lex as treatment. Does anyone have any recent experience transitioning from one SSRI to another? Any opinions? Anyway, that's what's up with me. Things remain very good with Cymbalta 30mg and Lexapro 5mg. I hope I can ultimately discontinue the Lexapro without any major difficulties.
