I forgot my 225mg Effexor today and was late taking it by 3 hours. I understand Effexor has about a 24-hour half-life and that's why many people begin to experience discontinuation symptoms almost immediately after missing their dose. Well, I felt great today, even 3 hours after missing it and I was wondering if this could be due to my still having doxepin in my system after taking 50mg last night before bed. Theoretically, could I stay on the doxepin just for this one dose at night when tapering off of Effexor (when and if I do) to eliminate all those uncomfortable symptoms so many people talk about on these boards? I may be changing my meds in a few weeks and want the transition to go as smoothly as possible.
