Here's a very interesting hypothosis concerning caffeine allergy/toxicity and the "upswing of 'chemical imbalance' disorders." I think that anyone using caffeine should consider this information. I know that I'm going to drop caffeine for a good long expierment after reading this. I don't think the trial can be for a short period of time though. According to the article it can take up to a year for the body to recover from caffeine toxicity. Quoting from the article:
Proportionate to toxicity, physical withdrawal may take up to 12 months, or longer. Recovery symptoms include memory loss, confusion, tremors, agitated states, insomnia or somnolence, and nightmares associated with amphetamine withdrawal. Following physical recovery, residual mental symptoms, primarily confusion and mood alterations, may exist for several months.
Read and let me know what you think.http://www.doctoryourself.com/caffeine_allergy.html
If there is any interest, I may comment in the future on any progress or problems that I experience in eliminating caffeine from my diet.
I have had a problem with depression for over thirty years now, much worse at some times than others. That is, I've suffered from my early twenties. That is also about the time I started drinking coffee come to think of it.
I have been more recently diagnosed as BP-II No medications have helped. I've tried almost all AD's, combinations of AD's, combinations of AD's and AP's. Some medications have made me extremely worse (Geodone for example).
