I am on 5 mg of lex and I take 0.5 mg of ativan as needed because the anxiety on the drugs was yucky...please tell me why I feel suicidally sad...is effexor withdrawal that bad...could the lex be doing it? what the hell???I am going through a lot right now as well. But these bouts of sadness are so bad I get sick to my stomach and feel suicidally depressed...hwill the lex work a second time? Is it a comdination of going off effexor and starting lex???has anyone had this experience and did it get better????PLease help me...thankyou.

Jasmine,

Are you having bad anxiety? Or is it all concentrated in intense sadness?

Effexor withdrawal affects people different ways. I wouldn't think you'd have much of a withdrawal effect after only 10 days at 37.5 mg. What were you on before the Effexor and for how long?

It may be that the old a/d is washing out of your system and the new hasn't gotten in good yet. It could also be that the Lex is causing anxiety instead of helping it. Paxil did that to me. Also, I've read a lot of posts here where people say that an increase in anxiety is fairly common when starting Lexapro but that it eventually goes away.

Also, are you on any kind of hormone replacement therapy? Progesterone can have paradoxical bad effects on some women - severe despair/anxiety.

Please let me know how you are doing. I feel for you so much since I just went through the same kind of thing over the last six weeks or so. You said there was a lot of emotional stuff going on right now for you also. The Ativan should help with that.

If you are still having such bad feelings by tomorrow, will you call your doc and explain what's going on, please?

Sending calming thoughts,

Marsha
