I took Effexor years ago and only stayed on it for about a week because of the anxiety and agitation. I was hoping Cymbalta might be different. I don't know about the NE factor but I believe it might cause anxiety/irritation in certain individuals. At least that has been my experience. Hopefully, the cymbalta will even itself out after a while. Don't quit just yet! Keep me up to date because it sounds like we have similar reactions to meds.
