In reply to chemist!! Anyone...Luvox and dopamine?, posted by malthus on August 18, 2004, at 0:17:44
> I have read on this site that there is some relation between dopamine and feelings of anhedonia and apathy. My doctor talked to me today about Luvox and dopamine. Also is there and OCD connection between Luvox and/or dopamine levels? Also is there a connection between Xyprexa and dopamine and/or OCD? Need help fast!
hello there, chemist here...zyprexa does antagonize several dopamine receptors, so i would expect that this contributes to the antipsychotic and mood stabilising features.....i am not aware of a link to OCD in particular. i do personally take luvox, off-label for mild depression. i am not aware of any significant dopaminergic activity of fluvoxamine, although it is not entirely absent, if memory serves. sorry to lead this to a dead-end, but in summary: zyprexa is heavily tied to squelching dopamine release, and luvox at best is a slight enhancer of dopamine release, though for all practical purposes i think the efficacy of luvox is in the modulation of serotonin. all the best, chemist
