Hi all,
I'm an Australian who is currently on an extended holiday in Holland. During my stay here my wonderful friends concerned for my health suggested I visit a homeopathic therapist for some advice, I was concerned that I had a thyroid problem. It turns out I have been diagnosed with HPU (the dutch term). Upon lots of further searching and investigation I have come to the conclusion that HPU is pyroluria, and I stumbled across this discussion.
I am still coming to terms with the elation I feel with FINALLY having a dignosis (although I am awaiting final confirmation with the urine sample) - however, I am convinced after further reading this is the one! I have a son of one year and my pregnancy was hell! I have been through a hellish marriage and break-up in the past 4 years and from that time on my symptoms as well as my weight has grown amazingly.
Of course amongst this elation at having the problem and starting treatment with supplements, I know have lots of questions. Can anyone help me with their stories which may be similar? Also, the woman who diagnosed me was concerned about me having a baby boy, she did not go into detail but I have seen a few notes on how this can be passed onto sons, and that he will need be watched for signs of schizophrenia - this is extremely stressful (which I obviously don't need with this condition!) - can anyone fill me in on this more???
