Sometimes I wondered if all of the withdrawal symptoms were ever going to go away, but they always did. I don't recall anything ever lasting much longer than about two or three months, and those were very weak aftereffects.

It is a horrible thing to have to endure for so long. It is a foreign experience to me, though, and I have been on and off Effexor three or four times.

Hi Scott,

The thing that lingers for me are weird buzzing noises and minor associated vertigo, particularly originating in my left ear, in which there is some slight inner ear damage from some long forgotten incident in childhood. At times, it sounds kind of like a cricket chirping. However, I expect this may very well be some unique effect that most people do not experience. The flu-like symptoms seem to go away pretty quickly for me, generally within a few days if I had tapered down properly beforehand. If I didn't have this weird ear thing, perhaps I would be all done within a week also, but I have no reason not to believe those people who indicate distressing withdrawal symptoms continuing for long periods. Personally, I would say I tolerate the withdrawal symptoms relatively well and would not be averse to going on Effexor again for fear of going through them. It's just that after being on it about three times now, I've decided that it does not seem to be quite what I'm looking for in the long term.

Todd
