But I did start low dose selegiline recently, partly because I read so many positive reports about it on this board. Your posts were especially helpful. Would you have the time to give us an update on your experience with selegiline? As I recall, you found fairly low dose selegiline very helpful for depression and ADD, and you recommended taking it with l-phenylalanine and vitamin B6 and chromium chelate. Are you still doing well on selegiline? Are you taking anything to augment the selegiline?

Hi Ktemene

Yes I am still taking selegiline. In fact it was through reading about HappySmurf's combination of selegiline and tianeptine that I became somewhat interested in the latter. In my further reading about tianeptine I discovered that it has some interesting anti-inflammatory properties, which are presumably the basis of it's anti-asthmatic effects. Whilst I don't have asthma, practically everyone else in my family does, and I have quite bad allergic rhinitis. I would be very interested in a medication that worked on all three at once (ie. depression, ADD, and allergies) - reflecting maybe an underlying common pathophysiology.

Back to your questions however. Yes I'm still taking Selegiline combined with 500mg - 1000mg of DL-phenylalanine, 50mg of pyridoxine, and 200mcg of chelated chromium. Through various stages of experimentation I have found that 2.5mg of selegiline twice daily, taken sublingually, works best for me. I take the phenylalanine as 500mg once or twice daily on an empty stomach. I think the chromium has some augmenting effects for me. I couldn't be certain about the pyridoxine, which I take only because others on the board have previously recommended it as part of this type of regime.

I think this regime has maintained efficacy for me for over one year now. The only thing it doesn't work for is my rhinitis - so I was thinking of trying tianeptine and had wondered whether any others had good experiences to report.

regards

elleff
