I think with Ritalin the reference is more to the short term effect: my 8 year old is pretty together on Ritalin, but there's an hour or so when it's wearing off when he's even more spaced out than before he took it.

I guess the irritability thing would be rebound, also, if the med decreases irritability. Describes me, come to think of it.

Stimulants are a royal pain in the ass but so far I have not found a viable alternative.
