ni racer, thanks for the kind words....i know the other posters know more about this stuff than i do, and my response is gleaned from my cursory literature/refs, but: effexor. strong S/NE RI, weak on the dopamine. likely to cause weight loss. give a shout to panda, ace, jbl121, SLS, or vultan: they're way more up on this than i am. the other one you might consider is wellbutrin, but from what understand, doesn't pack the S/NE punch that effexor does. now, about your bonus question: i'd like to say leptin, but see Science 304 (5667):108-110 (2004). if you want the PDF (or anyone else), let me know. all the best in your quest, chemist
