Brain changes

Posted by AMD on May 17, 2004, at 14:06:36

I'm curious, does anyone have information on whether short-term (< 6 month) use of Lamictal and/or other anticonvulsant agents can effect long-term changes to brain structure or function? I've been taking Lamictal for 5 months, and I suspect it has hurt more than help: I've been rapid cycling since I started it (on 25 mg), and when I up the dose, I just feel zonked out and unable to concentrate. If I were to stop now, would my brain have undergone permanent neurological change?
