Just how good is Straterra for depression/anxiety?

Posted by utopizen on April 13, 2004, at 1:07:45

Anyone notice a difference? Please, what dose, how long, how did you feel at first, how did it affect your sleep, your alertness?

The difference between somnolence in placebo patients and the real deal is like 2-3% or so, so I wish I gave it a shot last year even thogh my doc told me that... I was so afraid, "what if it could make me sleepy, and I'd have to wait so long to go back on Desoxyn or another stimulant!"

But now, I'm depressed, plus still have social anxiety (controlled a lot by Klonopin Wafers). How many reports are there of genuine relief from Straterra alone, or combined with Provigil (as my sleep doc wants me to do).

It seems very iff-y, and what's up with this notion that it takes a week if it's going to make a difference in a responsive patient? Is that based on anything? I heard a poster quote their doc with that statement... I'm not sure if it makes any sense. I'm sure some patients take a month or more to respond, but then respond quite well... I'm guessing.

It would be very novel if this stuff made me feel mellow, as I've heard in some web reports, in addition to feeling more energetic and less depressed. I'm depressed with low energy levels, and have ADD. I'd worry about going off my Desoxyn, but have so many leftover it's not such a concern anymore... plus, it could very well work in like 4 days, as I believe some have even claimed!?!?

I've been told the combo of Provigil+Straterra is very effective in ADD+EDS patients, or ADD patients in general. Anyone feel differently aside from ADD, or found relief of their symptoms within a week or two???

What dose, and what changes on your sleep/energy levels, and what comorbid conditions do you have besides ADD?

In a month, geez, finals will be long gone. I'm not sure, but I guess now's the time to try it. I suppose my energy levels are so bad, I have very little ot lose if it does take some adjusting to. My plan is to combine my Ambien with it and take it all at night for a week, and if that doesn't work out, then just take half in the morning... s

eems like meds will make me have insomnia or grogginess for the first few nights, so Ambien looks attractive, allowing me to sleep through the grogginess while it does it magic and my body adjusts.
