crazychicuk, my panic attacks make my heart apparently race, my head pounds, I get short of breathe (or, more properly, FORGET to breathe), and feeling like I am going to keel over.
I have had bad side effects on different SSRI's as well, mostly in raising my Blood Pressure to dangerous levels.
Sound familiar?
I have been seeing a therapist along with getting the medications sorted out - which takes a long, long time. Please be patient with yourself and the meds, as you know it takes weeks and weeks for their full effectiveness.
Anyhow, my therapist has had me working on "grounding" techniques during panaic attacks, to calm me down. I just want to get through a day without feeling like my heart was going to leap up my throat and out of my body. I find it very hard work but perhaps joining a yoga studio to learn meditation would help you. Also exercise does help, though I thought "how can I exercise when I feel like I am going to croak?" Again, give it time. Our bodies have remarkable recuperative powers.
Good luck and keep posting.
