SSRIs, and effexor are strange drugs...It really depends on the individual, whether the med is stimulating or sedating...for example, effexor caused me greater anxiety, yet in your case, it's sedating.

The only meds I found stimulating were Prozac, and the MAOIs...I felt like I was on amphetamine when I was taking prozac...Parnate (MAOI) is considered stimulating for most. Wellbutrin was neither stimulating or sedating (for me).

You may want to consider a medication that is more selective to norepinephrine than serotonin.

You may benefit from a mild stimulant like Ritalin, or even a psychostimulant like Provigil, or even the MAOIs selegiline, or Nardil.
