High Sugar, Zyprexa and Depression

Posted by mbailey on January 28, 2004, at 7:39:09

My husband is now just on Lithium and Xanax to tide him over until
Parnate is out of his system. (Based on this forum, he asked if Nardil
was an option and doc said yes! They are going to talk about it on Thursday. Thanks!)

But first, it looks like either he has diabetes or the Zyprexa has kicked his sugar
way high. Saturday he tested out at 254, then yesterday morning at 292 (both fasting).
His doc sent him to emergency and their tests came in non-fasting 251. His 3 month was 10.

So here are the questions:

1. I read on here that Zyprexa can cause high sugar. Is that irreversible?
If not, how long does it usually take for sugar to return to normal levels?

2. How long does it take Zyprexa to leave your system?

3. Can this high level of sugar cause the anxiey my husband has been having for the
last six months or so? It was never a hallmark of his depression in the past ten years.
It just started popping up in September.

Thanks so much for your help!
Jean
