That's awesome d00d :) I just had my 7th clean Xmas. Not bragging tho, it wasn't that easy, actually. Xmas eve was okay, but xmas day i was almost in tears all day, actually did cry a bit in the car on my way home from visting my mother. Not sure why either, couldn't exactly put my finger on it. I ended the day tho, by doing something similar to your visiting a friend in jail, i went to visit a friend who is in a half-way house, and that seemed to help end the day on a good note.
I used to deal with xmas just like you described, however. Getting wasted on everything i could get my hands on.
Since you sound so similar to me, i am curious what meds, if any, you are using now (I'm assuming you are, since you're posting on this board). If you don't mind my asking. I haven't been on any meds for over 5 years now, was on a few my couple years clean, then stopped taking them to see what would happen. I survived obviously, but this last year has been sorta rough, specially the last part, so went to see a doc before things got any worse. Was going several days at a time without showering, house is a massive pig sty, etc, etc, and i started thinking about using heroin again. 7 year itch? Haha, who knows, but i am glad i overcame my reluctance to try meds. I mean how stupid would it be to not give meds a try again, but use street drugs instead? hehAnyway, lets hope our New Years Eve goes well too. I definetly plan to get out and be with some people (non drug abusers) that night.
