Anti depressants weight gain

Posted by jms600 on December 23, 2003, at 17:02:52

Hi everyone,

For the last 14 months or so I have been on a variety of antidepressants. Generally they have really helped me and without them I don't know how I would have coped or got through life.

However I have, as most people do, experienced the usual side effects from these drugs. One side effect being weight gain. I am now three stone heavier then when I first went onto antidepressants.

I have cut down my calorie intake and I now take more exercise. I have stopped putting weight on, but I just can't seem to lose any.

I believe this is due to my craving and subsequent intake of carbohydrates.

Does anyone know of any drugs which can be taken to reduce the absorbtion of carbs in the stomach, and so reduce the amount of carbs the body absorbes? I have tried Xenical, which blocks the absorbtion of fat through the gut, but I haven't lost a pound while being on it.

Any information, anyone???
