You may want to ask about a mood stabilizer/anti-convulsant like Depakote.
Hyperactivity in various places in the brain (such as the temporal lobes) combined with inactivity in the pre-frontal cortex can present a problem: stimulants can improve the latter but will tend to worsen the former.
