Hi, I just joined this group. I have been diagnosed as Bipolar with suicidal tendencies. I am currently taking 3600mg Neurontin + 3mg Risperdal as mode stabilizers. They seem to be doing better than when I was on Lithium with Neurontin.

Unfortunately I am also disabled (Fibromyalgia and CFS) and waiting for Medicare to kick in. My current psychiatrist claims that the Neurontin does NOT help as a mode stabilizer (or antidepressant or antianxiety med) and is refusing to cover it under my states mental health care system. Neurontin is so expensive that I can't afford to purchase it myself either.

Is there any new research showing the effecy of Neurontin in treating Bipolar symptoms? I am thinking of the list of positive research articles: "Posted by SalArmy4me on March 12, 2001, at 12:29:26". Is there any newer research?? Much thanks. I would love to hear from SalArmy4me.....

Thanks
