IT INFURIATES ME! The whole miserable bunch of them--drug companies and the doctors who cowtow to them--I firmly believe that they're all out to make MAOI drugs extinct, to take away from US what is not earning any money for THEM. Knowing that only a small percentage of ADs prescribed today are MAOIs, I'd say that the time is ripe for us to start screaming to the FDA about any doctor's unwillingness to prescribe Nardil or Parnate, especially when the patient requests it.
Just because the doctor hasn't DONE anything wrong, (like operate on the wrong leg), it's what they HAVEN'T done that is negligent and life-threatening.
I know darn well that Parnate is the only AD that will appropriately work for me, as I've been taking it for nearly 20 years. I live overseas where it is not available. Once a year, I have to visit the U.S. to get it, and have been fortunate enough to have my former psychiatrist in New York write a prescription for it and mail it to my family in Phoenix. But, I dread the day when he will be unavailable and I will be compelled to get an Rx from someone else.
Parnate and Nardil are NOT dangerous when used properly. Crossing a busy thoroughfare or driving while using a cell phone are a lot more dangerous than taking Parnate or Nardil. We are the ones who must unite to stop this concerted medical establishment conspiracy to do away with the MAOIs before it's too late.
