i took part in a clinical trial for effexor xr. i got the placebo! after 6 months, one of the psychiatrists in the study told me i had generalized anxiety disorder and could benefit from effexor. he also described it as excessive worry. there is certainly social anxiety, too. i avoided most social situations.
the only negative side effects i felt from effexor were when i forgot to take it. then the withdrawal you read about began right away.
i still think it was worth it. many people have not experienced any withdrawal from effexor. maybe your doctor knows a way to avoid it.
