I have the opposite problem to Penny. I have hemochromatosis. I absorb too much iron from my diet. This was causing me alot of problems. My blood tests kept coming back "perfect" too. It wasn't until I asked for the proper test and then the genetic test, did I get the proper diagnosis and help. The sad part about hemochromatosis, is that the problems it causes can be avoided if diagnosed at an early age.

I don't know what your symptoms are, but I do know that sometimes not all the blood tests that can be done, have been done. And then sometimes your doc doesn't know how to read the blood tests properly. So it is important to get more than one opinion and look up on the internet your symptoms and of course ask for a copy of your results and look up what the results mean yourself. Remember that you have a right to see all the information in your health record that pertains to you. So ask for copies.

I never gave up asking for help, because I knew something was wrong, and I am very fortunate to have finally been given a proper diagnosis, but mostly only because I wouldn't go away and kept looking for an answer and researched stuff on my own.

Good luck, I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

ps. never take an iron supplement without having your serum iron, TIBC, and ferritin done. Taking an iron supplement without truly being low in iron is lethal. To much Iron feeds bacteria, viruses, fungi, etc and increases your chances of cancer.
