I'm on week 4 of Lexapro and I guess I'm part of the positive posters concerning Lexapro. I have tried every SSRI out there except Zoloft. I have done very well on Lexapro at 10mg in the morning. At first, it made me tired. It kicked in fast after about 5 days. I haven't cried *uncontrollably* since I started, I am thinking clearer, handling things that used to baffle me, and calming down a bit. I am also on other meds though, and everyone is different.
I've had a few drinks over the years when on these types of drugs and no harm done~~I don't think anyway. I'm still kickin',
Best of luck to you and hang in there!:-)
> I'm a new user of Lexapro (2 days now) and I'm starting to do some research on the drug. Honestly, these postings have really scared me.

Since then I've gained about 12 lbs. - probably from stress eating - and I can't sleep no matter how tired I am. The reason the doc put me on this is because of my tiredness and weight gain. Is Lex going to make everything worse for me? Help!

> Also, what effect does alcohol have with Lex? It would be very noticable to friends and co-workers if I stopped drinking altogether for no reason. Usually I'll have a glass of wine when I'm out. (I'm too embarassed to admit to others I'm on a drug of this type.)
