In reply to parnate withdrawal advice needed, posted by bobbiedobbs on August 20, 2003, at 10:33:34
Your need for a slower tapering schedule makes sense since you've been on MAOIs so long. Your schedule sounds good. But if it starts to feel really difficult, maybe tapering every two weeks would help a bit more. i don't think there's anything wrong with cutting them in half either, since it's not an extended release type of pill or anything. i thinksa good idea.
> I am beginning to withdraw from parnate in anticipation of lexapro. Question: What symptoms should I expect. So far have come down from 40 mg to 20 mg and am sweating alot and a bit more restless, plus lightheaded. also less appetite. I am reducing by 1/2 pill (5 mg) a week until ground zero. My prescribing doctor is virtually nonpresent, that is another story. Just looking for advice (besides find another doctor) on withdrawal symptons and whether my self-derived dropdown schedule makes sense. Thanks much. I was on Parnate for about 2 years; before that about 15 yrs of nardil so a bit psychologically apprehensive.
