Is she still taking Effexor? How much?
Most people taking Effexor for major depression take 150mg or higher. I took 300mg and did not have the problem your friend describes. It is doubtful that she experienced serotonin syndrome from ingesting 150mg. This syndrome disappears immediately when the drug is discontinued.
