I had a little nervous nausea with Effexor at first. It didn't last long at all. For me, a few days, at most. Side affects came and went with Effexor, changing each month for about four months. Most of them went away.

I like the drug, overall. I've gone off twice and can handle the withdrawal pretty easily, so that is not a problem for everyone.

One of my biggest complaints is blurry and changing vision. This has made reading a trick. I use different strengths of those over-the-counter reading glasses to read. Often, I can't read the phone book without them. I went of Effexor and could read it easily…back on Effexor… back to reading glasses. Even normal-size print changes on me. I have to keep those glasses around the house, in my purse, and in my car.

I have to avoid white pasta and a few foods, now, because they cause gas. I never had that problem before. I keep finding more foods my gastrointestinal tract does not like. Black licorice made from molasses instead of corn syrup is out. I haven't tried molasses in other forms, yet. I now react to beans the way other people do. (You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone.)

My biggest complaint is that I can't lose weight on it. I had twenty extra pounds on when I started. My weight distribution is different as well. I never gained any weight from it, though. Before Effexor, when I made a real commitment to diet and made a consistent but moderate efffort at it, I succeeded. I've done the job for a long time, but it's not coming off. I'm not giving up.

I hope this information helps. A lot of people like the drug.
