Lainy, I'm so sorry you are feeling so bad!!!! Unfortunately, most of these meds DO take 4-8 weeks to hit peak in our systems to relieve us of the BEAST of depression.
As far as the weight gain-I gained a lot over the years on these psych meds and when I went on TOPAMAX, I lost 25 in 2 months, it may also help with your mood, but everyone is different as I'm sure you know. I also didn't gain weight on Effexor or Celexa, and now I am starting Lexapro because my depression has hit an all time low. I posted to you earlier and just now saw this post. If there's anything I can do for you, please ask, I know how frustrating it can be.
