> Hildi..haven't seen you post in awhile, hope things are o.k. Just wanted to update you on my last pdoc appt. re: new meds. Since I had last seen him he had rethought my situation and decided against the remeron or straterra...remeron because of the weight gain ans sedation ( though as I said at this point I'd be willing to gain 100 lbs to feel better. Anyway, we decided to try this. I've switched to the new extended release xanax ( lots more expensive, but much smoother..no rollercoaster effect) and add a tiny dose of zoloft. I told him this absolutely terrified me because of my past reactions to SSRIs, but he thinks by cautiously adding the zoloft it might actually help with the agitation/anxiety. I'll start on just 12.5mg and maybe stay there. I agreed only if I could keep my regular xanax in case of disasterous side effects. I haven't actually worked up the guts to take the zoloft, but I plan to this weekend, if not before. I still plan to see the other pdoc July 8. My regular pdoc had no problem with that idea...just said to be careful that too many cooks don't spoil the pot...so I'll discuss whatever the new guy says with him if he suggests something new. Anyway, just curious about how you are. Drop a line sometime. Worrier.

Hey! You sound good. I didn't know the extended release xanax was out yet! How much is it and have you tried it? Oh yes, you mentioned it was smoother. . . how long does it last? What is the price?! I discussed this med with my dr. and he daid he would "check into it". He hadn't even heard about it, that's the guy I'm putting my trust in for my brain?! Yeah, right! Tell me more about this new xanax version because I liked the original, just doesnt last long enough for me.
You know, zoloft was really good for my anxiety for a very long time-I was on zoloft for approx eight years. The only reason I stopped was because it started affecting me physically after a while. Something with my blood sugar and I was always shakey, tired, woozey. But that only happened after many years. I had a good many on that med before that happened. Zoloft for me was nothing like my experience with paxil, effoxor, or celexa.
You know, your doc sounds pretty cool. If I told the p-doc I'm seeing now I am also going to see another doc, he would get an attitude. It wouldn't be right, but that's the kind of doc I have. I don't think he knows a lot and he has already told me he does not have any idea what to do with me. I am serious. this is two doctors now within the same county system that told me this same thing. If you don't respond to SSRI's or depakote, they don't know what to do with you, apparently. So that's why I try to gather as much info as I can (never enough time though!) so that I can get the knowledge to make informed decisions. These guys don't care about me enough to stretch thier brains a little, so I will, with the help of this site and other reading material I get from school. When I get insurance I want to see a doctor who really cares and knows about meds, womens hormones influence on depression, anxiety, our weird type of anxiety we suffer, and accepts the fact that we all don't respond to paxil! Write back when you can. I'm very busy right now and don't check the site often, so I might not get back to you again right away.
I definately am interested in your new med combo and how you do on the zoloft, and what thie new doc has to say. It's good you have a few weeks inbetween, don't you think? You will have some idea if you even like the zoloft/xanax regimin before you see the other doctor and will better know what you still need and may want to change.
