length of time to correct dx

Posted by starlight on June 4, 2003, at 18:10:19

Someone had asked how long it took before you were correctly diagnosed. I'm dx'd as Bipolar II. I have severe lows and definite periods of mania, I can see that now. I was initially dx'd as depressed 3 years ago, but after the antidepressants made me manic, he changed my dx. So I would say 4 years to the correct dx. But a lifetime to the correct dx really.... Or at least a good 20 years. I'm 34 now.
