My husband was given a low dose of Effexor to treat his insomnia (it didn't work very well). I'm on 150 mg of Effexor (plus 300 mg of Wellbutrin) for anxiety, prescribed by my psychiatrist and have much more energy than I did prior to going on Effexor. I can actually stay awake past 10 p.m. now!

I think there's nothing to be lost by asking your doctor how he feels about upping your dose to 150. That is a standard therapeutic dose.
