> So I called my p-doc... complaining that my depression had become severe, that my anxiety was as present as ever, that OCD was still alive and kicking, that I had zero motivation, no energy, and that I was becoming agoraphobic (sp?). I asked if I could try Mirapex, his reply "no you don't want that stuff". Actually, doc, I DO! His only advice was "make sure you take your meds in the morning, and I'll see you in a couple of weeks". Thanks a lot, doc.

Give him the boot! This psychiatry is all about power. Who the hell is he to tell you what's best for you if you have researched your meds?

Assuming a patient does research drugs, is responsible, and does know the contraindications, I can't see why it shouldn't be their choice. Sure, feedback is great, but ultimately it's going into the patients body.

The only drug that has substantially helped me, after many being prescribed, whas Nardil - and I chose that after thorough research, contemplation etc.

Sure, if a patient is clueless about drugs, doesn't know the difference between a AD and AP, then it's the Dr.'s job, but otherwise I think it's best for the client to take an active role.

Actually, a lot of psychiatrists would be very upset about a forum like this - upset that patients are becoming proactive - I wonder why?

Ace.
