Been I almost all TCAs. Protryptiline (Vivactil) is reported to be energizing and it was for me. Had to stop it. I found it too stimulating. Nortryptyline and Desimpramine have little sedative effect but not as stimulating as vivactil. For MAOIs parnate is considered to be more stimulating than Nardil. Had bad insomnia when on it 20 yrs. ago. But some say it makes them drowsy. Eveyone is different. Can't tell you about SSRIs. Never been on one.

Hope this helps-
Paul
