I got a nice one from the drugstore for a couple of bucks. It's got 2 little compartments so you can cut the pill, take a piece, and just sweep the rest into the compartment to use later. That's really nice when you're dealing with smaller pills or cutting things into quarters - those little bits can be hard to handle.

I did use my pill cutter to help with Xanax withdrawl. I got them down to quarters.

I've never seen Parnate, but is it a hard, coated pill (not sustained release though)? I've had success with the pill cutter and coated pills/tablets. The trick is to just really quickly and firmly press down on the cutter - you get a nice clean break then. If you just kind of gently push on it, things tend to crumble.

I found it to be definitely worth the investment! If you get one, you might want to practice on some aspirin or some other OTC pills, get a feel for using it.

> Sometimes it seems that the scoring the med manufacturers use on the pills don't give you a real neat split into halves. Since I probably will want to cut .5 mg Klonopin into quarters or even eighths, I'll probably buy a pill cutter. Has anyone used one of these and found it helpful (for really small dose reductions)? And, what about using the cutter on hard pills like Parnate, which are not meant to be cut? It's made only in 10 mg. size,so if you'd like to try something like 35 mg. you'd have to cut this little red pebble in half. Anyone with precision pill cutting experience, please speaketh.
